Interesting Super Bowl Statistics

This past week I heard some amazing statistics about the Super Bowl. I did some research to confirm the numbers and I wanted to share some of this with you:

Guacamole Consumed = 8 Million Pounds
    Chips Consumed = 14,500 Tons
Increase in Antacid Sales on Monday After the Super Bowl = 20%
Number of Chicken Wings Consumed = $1.25 Million
Average Calories Consumed Per Person During the Super Bowl

  • Unreal statistics. These data collections are always interesting for the simple fact that these data are available because businesses in each market are collecting them to maximize profits on these “high-spending” days.

The superbowl stats aren’t nearly as frightening as Wal-Mart’s leaked data that strawberry pop-tart sales are seven times higher just before a hurricane. The fact that Wal-Mart is actually tracking that kind of data is kind of scary.

O! And you missed the calorie number in the post. (Unless you didn’t post it as a cliffhanger to encourage readers to click through! In that case I might follow that sentence with an ellipse.)
