5 Internet Marketing Strategies You should Employ in 2009

I believe that 2009 is going to be a great year. I am not buying into the media’s message that we are all bound by a recession and need to hold on to our money – nor do I recommend it. The fact is that you need to being doing just the opposite, but you need to know where to spend your business dollars to be most effective.

Here are 5 strategies that I recommend employing in 2009 if you want to be successful in business.

1. Blog. If you don’t have a blog by now, you are pretty far behind the times. It’s the equivalent of not having a website several years ago. If you need to learn how to blog (from A to Z), I recommend getting a copy of my book, The Internet Marketing Guide for Small Business, as I wrote a complete section on setting one up, and also a section on promoting through Social Media.

2. Twitter. When Twitter first came out, I really wasn’t in the mood to add another Social Media tool to my arsenal. In a short time, I realized that I could actually sacrifice other forms of Social Media in favor of Twitter. If you don’t know what Twitter is, or need to learn more about Twitter, then I recommend this list of Twitter related articles.

3. Develop a Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Strategy. Here are your 4 options for SEM:

    a) Do Nothing – A poor choice that gives your competition an edge over you.

    b) Try Something & Fail – I respect those who step out and at least try. That’s how most of us learned, especially in the early days before all of the trainings that are available now. No one was born with SEM knowledge, and due to it’s relative infancy, there are no 2nd generation SEM gurus that were “born into it.”

    c) Learn SEM – Two options that I recommend are buying my book, or taking an online SEM course.

    d) Hire a Professional SEM Firm – SEM does not have to cost you and arm and aleg. Call me at 800-453-9290 if you want to discuss what is best for your firm.

4. Get a professional SEM Analysis. Do you know what you are doing right? Do you know what you are doing wrong? If not, you might benefit from a professional SEM Analysis. For a limited time, I am offering a FREE SEM Analysis to those who request it. Simply email me at FREESEM@oldschoolseo.com and provide your Name, Telephone #, and URL. Please note, this offer is limited to US based websites (sorry).

5. Get Involved in Social Media. This is where it’s at, and literally where the people are that might want your products or services. I recommend using LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, and then finding a niche Social Media site for your industry.

I sincerely wish you the best for your business in 2009. While this article may seem self-promoting in favor of my book, it is heartfelt. The reason I wrote my book and priced it where I did was in an attempt to make Internet Marketing education affordable to everyone. There are plenty of places you can spend more money and learn a lot less about Internet Marketing. I encourage you to pick up a copy; I guarantee you will be pleased – literally (100% Money Back Guarantee).

Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays from OldSchool SEO

As the year comes to an end, I want to thank everyone who has visited, subscribed, commented, and contributed in any way to OldSchoolSEO. I have not blogged much lately and that is because of some exciting changes that have taken place and I look forward to hopefully sharing more soon.

As you spend time with family and friends, I want to ask you to remember those who may be struggling during the holidays, whether it’s financial such as a job loss or pending foreclosure, or a health challenge. Many of you may not know, but last Christmas was very tough for our family because my wife was very sick. By God’s grace, she is much improved and is enjoying this Christmas much more than last.

In the spirit of giving, I would like to ask that you remember a family that is very near to me as their son is going through a battle with a rare form of cancer. He has just received a bone marrow transplant and the recovery is less than desirable. Here is a snippet from his website in his dad’s words:

Medicine is not an exact science. There are several clinical indicators that tell Justin’s medical team that his transplanted cells are doing something – starting to engraft (grow) that is… Justin has a rash that covers 80 percent of his body. For the past 5 days he has maintained a constant body temperature/fever between 103 and +104. He has patches of skin starting to “slough” off his head and neck, and his entire body (hips, back, ribs and left leg) constantly ache.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers and if you are able to help them out financially, I know they will be blessed. Having experienced a medical crisis in our family, I personally know how financially devastating it can be. I would never ask anyone to do something I haven’t done and my wife and I have made a donation already. Don’t feel that any amount is too small.

I wish you all a Happy and safe Holiday Season.

Why I Consider Today One of My Most Successful Days in SEO

I consider today one of my most successful SEO days ever. Not because I got a new client, not because I got another great ranking, not because I did a great interview, and not because I got a large paycheck from a client. My wife just got get first client from the website I put up for her, and it was 100% based on how her website ranked for what she does. My wife ( a social worker) knows the value of SEO and after listening to me ramble on for the past several years, actually knows more than many people who need to know. But today, she gets to enjoy the full benefit of SEO which is the revenue from a new client.

Today, as she was meeting with her new client, she asked the president of the company how he found her (knowing full well how) and he said that she came up #1 in Google. He also said his daughter (who maintains his website) said that it either cost a lot of money or took a lot of talent to obtain that ranking. I am glad people still think this way because it has paved the way for my new book where I have laid out all of my “SEO Secrets” in my latest book, The Internet Marketing Guide for Small Business, which I am selling for a mere $19. The good news for my wife is that she is married to me and I did it all for her :-) The good news for everyone else is that $19 is not a lot of money to generate clients.

You may be asking, “Did “I” spend a lot of money?” Not at all, in fact, I didn’t spend a penny on SEO and I paid a designer friend less than $100 to create the website. I did no paid submissions, and spent zero on PPC. Much of what I did was just on auto-pilot because I “live” SEO, but I have to say it is ALL laid out in my book. I held nothing back and you can learn how to do this for your business and even more.

Get The Internet Marketing Guide for Small Business today and get on track to dominate your market in 2009!
